You can become unstuck from over-thinking every situation when you stop sculpting the body to sweat out stress & start tuning in with the body

Start making your own shifts towards a calm and collected you

Discover a different way to use your body towards relieving anxious over-thinking. Learn why and how to take a bottom-up approach instead.

  • You do care about your health and you’re already trying your best to take care of it

You love your flows and HIITs

You juggle tight deadlines, pressures to deliver high-quality work and fierce competition

You work hard to be a supportive parent, child, friend and partner

But the problem is that you are unable to relax or enjoy yourself with loved ones because your mind is constantly racing

No matter how hard you sweat to switch off your mind, the million tabs re-open in your head as soon as you leave the studio

  • You feel exhausted from worrying about every decision and every thing that hasn’t happened yet

You start to accept your over-thinking as your personality and when the stress overwhelms you, you are back on the mat

The reason why you are stuck in this loop while others seem to manage their stress isn’t that you’re spending less than 7 days a week at the gym

Rather it has to do with how they are tackling the stress from its root by tuning in with the internal experience of the body

  • This is because your worries could be a sign your nervous system does not feel safe and is going into defense mode

So if you want to break out of the cycle of anxious over-thinking and feel focused everyday, you need to treat your body differently

Stop only using it as a tool to distract your mind from worries

Start using it to as a tool to tackle your worries bottom-up via the body

That is how I went from lying awake to racing thoughts to waking up feeling optimistic and present

  • Here are two shifts I made:

1 - I practiced longer holds that deepened into fascia (yin)

Our fascia are full of nerves and can tense up under stress, so when stimulated right it can help send messages to the brain that the body is safe and reduce feelings of anxiety

2- I practiced meditation that guides deep relaxation and brings consciousness to a unique state (nidra)

As our brainwaves drop between awake and asleep states through guided body scans and visualizations, the body starts to let go of tension and calm down its stress response

workshop FAQs

  • "Somatic" refers to the focus on and awareness of the body from within the body. It is about the internal experience of the body rather than the outcome. For example you explore the sensations in the body that may result from an emotion, rather than the stories in the head about that emotion.

  • It means "yogic sleep". It's a guided relaxation technique that involves directing your attention to different parts of your body and being guided through affirmations and visualizations. Rooted in ancient Indian yogic practices, nidra is typically practiced on your back and is said to promote physical and mental well-being, including stress relief and improved sleep.

  • Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga where poses are held for extended periods. It targets the deep connective tissues, such as fascia rather than the muscles. It encourages you to cultivate introspection and mindfulness as you hold in stillness. The poses also act as a massage into the energetic channels in the body (meridians) to release emotional tension that may be stored there.

  • In this 90-minute session, you will:

    • be guided through a series of passive yin yoga poses held for up to 3-5 minutes that target your deep connective tissues (fascia) which can become tense and disturbed from stress. Our fascia is rich in nerves and sends information through the nervous system so we know what is going on with our body (proprioception). So stimulating fascia can help send the right messages to the brain that the body is safe and can come out of defense mode (like constant worrying).

    • experience balancing your nervous system through somatic exercises like tapping, qi gong, breath work and/or meditation. This is a bottom-up approach to working with our body based on the fact that 80% of our neurons transmit information from the body to our brain via the vagus nerve (while 20% are from the brain to the body).

    • nurture not only your physical body but also your energetic body as we target emotional tension that can be stored in your body’s energy channels (meridians) with the holds but also cultivate introspection as you observe your thoughts and feelings and develop a meditation practice as you actively interrupt the flow of your day with stillness.

    • end the session lying on your back in yogic sleep meditation (nidra) where you will be taken through affirmations, body scans and visualizations that aim to bring your brainwaves into a more relaxed state and release stress and tension.
