understanding the nervous system through yin & sound bath

Join me for my upcoming FREE online workshop on 11 September 8pm-9pm GMT+8 “Understanding the Nervous System through Yin & Sound Bath”. Can’t make it live? Don’t worry, the recording will be made available to you.

I am excited to share bite-sized knowledge about how the nervous system works so you can kickstart your journey towards releasing stress and feeling happier!

  • Continuing to sweat out your stress at high intensity yoga classes is the reason why you constantly feel anxious and overthink every situation.

You’re the kind of woman who values her health and loves to work out especially when you’re overwhelmed with juggling tight deadlines, pressures to deliver high-quality work and fierce competition to climb the corporate ladder while fulfilling your commitment to be a supportive mother, daughter, friend and partner.

  • The problem is that you are unable enjoy quality time relaxing, having fun or spending time with loved ones because your mind is constantly racing.

You are overthinking every decision you make, worrying about things that haven’t happened yet and feel like you have a million tabs are open in your mind at once.

You’re currently doing power yoga or HIIT 3 times a week to try switch off your overthinking mind but this doesn’t help you manage your stress when you leave the studio, which keeps you in a constant state of worry no matter how much you flow and sweat.

  • What you need to do is tune into the body to focus on what is actually happening internally rather than on the outer effect on the body.

Here are 2 quick ways you can do this today:

    (1) Ground yourself for 5 minutes.

This neutralizes the feeling of stress in your body by helping you feel more stable. Find a seat or standing position somewhere quiet and visualize tree roots rooting your sit bones or feet into the earth and deepen your breath.

When you intentionally interrupt the flow of your day with this simple act, you can almost immediately reduce your stress by snapping out of the brewing of thoughts and focusing on the current state of your body. But by moving through your day without pausing, you will continue to feel like spinning out of control.

  • When you know how to connect with the internal experience of the body, that is when you can start to address your stress at its root and feel more present with work and family.

    (2) Hold in Butterfly pose for 5 minutes.

Connective tissues are rich with neurons and require time and consistency to release, which can tense up when the body perceives threat. So by holding the pose you can relax the muscles, release the hardened tissue and rewire the neurons to send the right messages.

While seated on the floor, bring the soles of your feet together bending at the knees and hold folding forward. If you don’t stop to hold, your overwhelm continues because the nervous system doesn’t learn how to feel safe.

THIS is what I teach in my Yin Programs and what I'll touch upon in the upcoming Workshop.
